What is Buspro?
HDL Buspro is a proprietary building/home-automation system used for lighting, curtains, HVAC and room controls. Keypads and sensors send information to compatible control modules; commissioned logic and scenes link the devices' behaviour.

It is important to distinguish Buspro from HDL's KNX range. The same manufacturer supplying both does not mean the devices share an application protocol. A Buspro-to-DALI controller is a bridge between two systems, not evidence that a DALI driver can be attached directly to every Buspro port.

Hardware planning
  • Compatible Buspro keypads, sensors or room-control devices.
  • Relays, dimmers, curtain/HVAC modules or lighting gateways selected for the real loads and required functions.
  • The correct Buspro bus supply arrangement, cable and installation enclosures, sized from the connected devices' requirements.
  • A supported programming/network interface and configuration software appropriate to that product generation.
  • For a DALI branch, compatible drivers and the specified DALI controller/bus-power arrangement.
As a concrete manufacturer example, HDL's MDL64-BP.53 manual describes a Buspro/DALI-2 controller supporting dimming, colour-related functions and grouped/scened control with compatible drivers. It does not mean every Buspro module has the same features, supplies or channel capacity.

Getting started
Create a room schedule listing each input, controlled output and expected scene or automation. Have the installer identify each device and configure addresses, channel mappings and supported status reporting. Begin with one documented safe demonstration, then add functions gradually. Save the configuration and record the exact software/firmware versions.

Check LED-driver compatibility, switching inrush, dimming method and motor/interlock requirements before choosing output modules. Read/write access to a running building is operational access, not a harmless discovery tool.

This guide is based on HDL's published documentation rather than hands-on testing. Use a trained HDL installer for system design and an appropriately licensed electrician for Australian mains/fixed-wiring work. Confirm local product support and electrical approvals before importing equipment.
