Start with the exact system drawing
QS wired links combine specified low-voltage power and communication connections. Use the device manuals and Lutron's power-budget rules, cable requirements and permitted topology. A generic DC supply or RS485 adapter is not an automatic replacement for approved system components.

Ethernet ports serve a different function from the QS device link. The linked wired-QSX processor specification shows system-network connections and Type X gateway networking, including its required network/PoE arrangement. Follow the applicable architecture rather than plugging gateways into an arbitrary processor port. Do not assume the wiring of an older HomeWorks system transfers unchanged to QSX.

Wireless planning
Check Clear Connect family, exact model/region and system compatibility before purchase. Type A and Type X are not interchangeable simply because both are Lutron wireless. Position repeaters/gateways using the regional design guide and verify coverage in the actual building, including enclosed metal cabinets and dense walls. A matching nominal frequency is not proof of protocol compatibility.

Wireless control does not eliminate power requirements for dimmers, fixtures, processors or shade motors. Australian mains installation remains licensed work; verify local approval and electrical ratings rather than importing a product because its appearance matches.

Application versus integration protocol
A commissioned system maps keypads, loads, scenes and shades. Its LAN integration can provide a supported control path without exposing raw QS or radio traffic. Lutron's migration guide explains that QSX third-party integration uses LEAP rather than simply carrying forward older RS232 integrations. Check the supported driver and authentication method with the integration supplier.

What documentation is public?
The links below are official product/architecture and upgrade documents. They are not complete public specifications for implementing Clear Connect, QS or LEAP from scratch. Obtain the applicable integration documentation, authorisation and software access through Lutron's approved support/dealer/developer arrangements; do not assume older published command lists describe current QSX.

Retain the commissioned database and recovery information, restrict LAN access and agree on supported maintenance before deployment. Public installation documents do not remove proprietary protocol, training, software or licensing conditions.
